Glasshouse Mountains Rockclimbing is a half day activity, commencing at either 0800 or 1230. Session start times are found on the scheduled activities page.
Where to meet
We will meet you at the Glasshouse Mountains at the car park on Fullerton’s Road at the base of Mt Ngungun. If you have difficulty locating us just give me a call on the mobile; 0413 157 358. Please plan to arrive 5 minutes before your scheduled time to complete your activity sign on.
If you’ve made your booking already. Please print out your booking for here and bring it with you on the day Activity Application Form V3.1
What to bring
We provide all activity equipment. You don’t need to wear any special clothing for climbing, just comfortable clothes that suit the weather on the day. Be sure to wear sturdy footwear – runners or hiking shoes are good. Also, bring plenty of drinking water, your camera, a hat, sunglasses and sun protection.
Please understand that you will not be able to walk back and forth for food or water as it is a 30 minute walk between the car park and the abseiling site. Therefore it is important that you MUST provide the following items on your person:
- Water bottle per person (preferably 1 litre per person)
- Some snacks
- Ensure you wear comfortable shoes for walking on the mountain on ‘rough’ tracks. DO NOT wear footwear that would be unsuitable for walking and climbing (e.g sandals, thongs etc)
Please note: there are no toilet facilities on site. You may wish to take advantage of the public toilets in the township of Glasshouse before joining the tour.
What to expect on the day
After a short walk up the mountain to the cliff we will give you a comprehensive safety brief and equipment familiarisation. We will take you to the upper 20 meter cliffs where the climbing is easier and you can learn some basic moves. If you conquer those climbs, we will rig up some more challenging routes for you to test yourself with. You will be personally supervised by the instructor as you climb and belay. To ensure your safety we adhere to strict safety rules.
Light rain or patchy weather is acceptable and does not mean that we will cancel your adventure, but ‘set-in’ rain, extreme heat or high winds may necessitate that we re-schedule. I will contact you if the activity is cancelled otherwise please just turn up at the scheduled time.
