For an amazing personal adventure join us for a half day in the Glasshouse Mountains. We’ll give you plenty of practice abseils on the smaller cliffs and then, if you’re game, you can abseil the 50 meter drop from the top of Mt Ngungun. Abseiling at the Glasshouse Mountains is a half day (4 hours session).
All abseils are accessible via walking trails so there’s no climbing involved, just abseiling!

What to bring
We provide all activity equipment. You don’t need to wear any special clothing for abseiling, just comfortable clothes that suit the weather on the day. Be sure to wear sturdy footwear – runners or hiking shoes are good. Also, bring plenty of drinking water, your camera, a hat, sunglasses and sun protection.
Please understand that you will not be able to walk back and forth for food or water as it is a 30 minute walk between the car park and the abseiling site. Therefore it is important that you MUST provide the following items on your person:
- Water bottle per person (preferably 1 litre per person)
- Some snacks
- Ensure you wear comfortable shoes for walking on the mountain on ‘rough’ tracks. DO NOT wear footwear that would be unsuitable for walking and climbing (e.g sandals, thongs etc)
After a short walk up the mountain to the cliff we will give you a comprehensive safety brief and equipment familiarisation. We will start on the upper 20 meter slopes for you to get used to abseiling and to the equipment. Once you have had enough abseils there we will move to the big main cliff for you to abseil the 50 meter drop*! You will be personally supervised by the instructor as you complete your abseiling descents. To ensure your safety we always use a belay system and adhere to strict safety rules.
Please note: there are no toilet facilities on site. You may wish to take advantage of the public toilets in the township of Glasshouse before joining the tour.
* 50 meter abseil is subject to track conditions – it can be very slippery after prolonged rain.
Light rain or patchy weather is acceptable and does not mean that we will cancel your adventure, but ‘set-in’ rain, extreme heat or high winds may necessitate that we re-schedule. I will contact you if the activity is cancelled otherwise please just turn up at the scheduled time.
